A DAY IN THE LIFE
From the outside looking in, the life of a
real estate agent may seem glamourous and
carefree. The reality is much different.
As a real estate agent, you own and operate
your own business. The responsibility is on your
shoulders as to whether your business
"makes it" or "breaks it."
You make a sale, you get a paycheque. No sale,
no paycheque. It's that simple.
Time management, planning and self-discipline
are necessities. You work your schedule around
those of your clientele. Weekend open houses and
after-hours appointments are part of your normal
work week.
You need to map out a balance for your
personal and professional life. If you don't set
out your priorities, you may easily fall into
the trap of forgetting to make time for your
family and friends. A seven-day work week is
common in the real estate industry - especially
for new agents.
That being said, there are many successful
ways to run and efficient business while
honouring your personal life.
Here
is one example of a typical work week in the
life of a successful agent. (Keep in mind that
there are many other models for successful
weeks.)
